At each meeting there is an illustrated talk and opportunities for discussion. Members are also provided with primary source materials connected to the topics being studied.
​Members do not need any specific previous historical knowledge and whether they spend time working out what can be deduced from the primary sources or on follow-up reading is entirely optional.
We usually spend about twelve months on aspects of a particular period of history - for example political and religious leaders in Early Modern Europe c1515 - c1725 and themes in English History c1150 - c1450
