Geopolitics

Our well-attended August meeting coincided with the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, and we enjoyed a lively discussion led by Rik and Mike about the history and geopolitics of Japan over this period, and posed possible scenarios for the next eighty years.
Discussion quality was enhanced by one of our members having a relative who was until recently the UK Ambassador to Japan, and several of us had researched and thought in some detail. As usual, there was plenty of mirth despite the serious nature of the topic.

On the 11th of September we will take a very different approach and each member of the group will offer for a “short and snappy discussion” a topic
of “Good News” or “Current Geopolitical Event”.

Looking forward to the 9th of October, provision on events, Geoff and Rik will
lead a discussion on “The Geopolitical Situation in Ukraine” in the vain hope
that we manage to keep up with the fast-moving situation.

We meet on the 2nd Thursday 1.45 4.15 in the Admiral Rodney Pub conservatory (nil charge, but buy a drink at the bar!)
