A Cappella

A Cappella December Gathering

Our December session was a truly festive finale to the year, filled with music, laughter, and seasonal cheer. We revisited some favourites, polished our carols, and let the harmonies ring out in celebration.

Since beginning our A Cappella adventure back in June, we’ve discovered the joy of sea shanties—
and this time we tackled a brand-new one, Santiana. Inspired by the rousing rendition from our favourite shanty group, The Longest Johns, we launched into our own version with gusto and plenty of spirit!

Adding to the Christmas repertoire, we introduced the beautiful round Dona nobis pacem. Its timeless message of “grant us peace” felt especially poignant as we closed out a challenging year.

Of course, no December sing would be complete without the classics—our voices blended in harmony for Silent Night, before we rounded off the year with seasonal refreshments and good company.

Looking Ahead to January:
Our next gathering will be on Wednesday 21 January, 2–4 pm at the Southwell WI Hall. Whether you’ve sung with us before or are simply curious to try, we’d be delighted to welcome you. Come along, join the harmonies, and start the year on a joyful note!
