Southwell u3a is affiliated with the Third Age Trust, u3a is a large national organisation, created in 1982. There are more than 1000 member groups nationally.

Membership of u3a is open to everyone in their third age – this is not defined by a particular age, but by a period in life in which full time employment has ceased. There is no upper or lower age limit.

Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together – they draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other. There are no qualifications involved – it is just for pleasure. And it is all voluntary, run by members for other members.

You can catch up with the news from the national u3a here. We are also a member of the Nottinghamshire Network of u3as and that send out a bi-monthly newsletter, Newsbites.

This is a very informal affair open to all members of Southwell u3a and no registration is needed, just  turn up, get yourself a drink and join in for a get-together and chat.

Please wear your u3a membership badge so you will easily be recognised by other members.  All members are asked to look out for anyone joining us for their first visit, and to make them welcome.

The Southwell u3a concert trips scheme runs regular coaches from Southwell to the Nottingham Classics concert programme at the Royal Concert Hall in central Nottingham. Tickets are discounted significantly because we comprise a group and there is then a small charge added into the integrated ticket/coach price to cover the cost of coach hire.

At the core of our u3a community are nearly 80 vibrant Activity and Interest Groups, all led by dedicated volunteer Group Leaders. These leaders organize a variety of activities, meetings, and outings for members who share a common passion for specific subjects or hobbies. Depending on the group, you can find meetings and activities happening monthly, bi-weekly, or even weekly. Join us and dive into something you love!

Join us for our monthly meetings at Southwell Leisure Centre, held on the first Tuesday of each month. Doors open at 9:30 am and the meeting starts at 10:00 am.
