It was a picture-perfect evening. The weather had behaved well all day, and the sky was clear with wisps of cloud. It was warm with just a hint of a gentle breeze as we gathered on the York stone and gravel terrace of the beautiful local venue, Norwood Park and Norwood Hall. The lavender bordering the terrace was in full bloom as butterflies and insects droned lazily from flower to flower.
Friends gathered, fizz in hand, broke off and regrouped to chat and laugh. We do scrub up well, and it appears we also really know how to party!
Evening Highlights
- Welcome Reception: Following a Champagne reception and a brief address from Mike, our Chair, we made our way across to the Long Gallery—where tables were dressed in spotless white linen—to enjoy lovely antipasti with cheese and meat platters.
- Music & Dancing: Later, we moved to the large bar area where, depending on preference and stamina, members could dance to live music by the Velvet Souls Duo or partake of a little something from the bar while joining friends in the main bar or courtyard.
The evening was lively, and competition on the dance floor was fierce! Legs were shaken and shapes were cut as music from the '60s to the '80s filled the room, continuing long after the allotted time. We gave it our all, and I am sure I wasn't the only one with aching joints the next day.
As we slowly crunched our way across the gravel back to our carriages at the end of the evening, we could feel proud that we celebrated our 20th Anniversary in style. It was most definitely a "bit of a do."
