As a follow-up to last month, in May we looked at one person's vision as to how humans could travel to Mars and live there for increasingly longer periods of time. Subsequent flights would gradually increase the population there, leading to an eventual possibility of developing a self-sufficient community. One of the key ideas would be to manufacture in-house rocket propellant for return flights. The presentation was based on a book by the eminent scientist Robert Zubrin, written in 1996.
