The Music Lovers Group was formed in the early days of Southwell u3a as a forum for members to get together to listen to classical music. It has progressed from listening to CDs to today watching high resolution music videos accompanied by a very good sound system.
The object is to introduce the group to a wide range of classical music repertoire, both well known and the less well known, and occasionally straying into more modern genres.
The 2-hour sessions are held in a concert format and there is time for discussion at a 20 minute tea interval. But the prime purpose is to sit back, listen and enjoy. You need no prior knowledge, just an enthusiasm for good music. We have about 30 registered members and attendance is normally just under 20, and we are very welcoming to new members. There is no need to attend every meeting and fees are paid on a meeting by meeting basis by those attending.
