Southwell u3a’s pickleball group is expanding! The Thursday group is now full, and we are looking for up to 10 new members to play on Wednesday afternoons at Southwell Leisure Centre.
Who is playing Pickleball?
You guessed it: the group that seems to have become regular players are baby boomers. The senior age group has been attracted to the sport because it is easy to play, very social and less stressful on muscles, tendons and joints.
The game offers a low-impact, social, and engaging way to stay active and maintain physical and mental health. The smaller court size, slower pace, and reduced need for intense running makes it accessible and enjoyable for seniors, while the social aspect helps combat loneliness and isolation.
